Day 277 - Wednesday

Today I had coffee with a girl who has volunteered with one of the campus Christian ministry groups at the school I go to for the last couple years.  I met her a couple years ago at Applebees where she works.  One of her coworkers happened to go to church with my friend and I and he ended up introducing us to this wonderful young lady.  My friend and I got to minister to her about the Lord for over an hour that night and it was really and truly incredible.

Last week she called me to talk about the campus ministry and asked if we could get together.  So today we met up and she shared with me what was going on with the organization and with her.  It was really cool.  She asked me a question though that has been running through my mind all afternoon.  She asked if I felt the secular and almost anti-Christian vibe that permeates our campus was a hindrance.  I immediately answered in the negative and shared with her a few of the opportunities that I have had to pray with people on campus and how open they actually were to it.  In fact one of my professors, the head of the department in fact, is a self proclaimed atheist.  He knows I am one of those weird flaming Christians.  We get along great!

So I have been thinking all afternoon... why is it that people feel our campus is somewhat closed to Christianity?  Is it because we haven't tried?  Have we not reached out to the people around us who are hurting?  The Bible asks the question, how will people hear if they do not have someone to teach them?  Is the secular atmosphere that some feel is so pervasive because we stand by and do nothing?  I don't think that unbelievers or the devil or whatever is all that powerful, certainly not more powerful than the Almighty God so it can't be their fault.  There is really only one answer left...
God help me to be bold.  Help me to have courage to share Your love.  Open up my eyes to see and ears to hear who needs a touch from You.  Help me to be Your hands and Your feet and Your mouth piece.  Reinhard Bonnke said that the Lord told him "My word in your mouth is just as powerful as My Word in My Mouth."
